General Information
Mascarpone is a classic Italian cream cheese, originally from North Italy. It was probably created in the late 16th or 17th century close to Milan. Mascarpone is milky-white in colour, easy to spread and very versatile for the preparation of many recipes (especially deserts).
Pairings
It is one of the main ingredients in the internationally well known Italian dessert Tiramisù. It can be also used to make cheesecakes, trifle, or to enrich pasta and risotto dishes. It’s a good alternative to cream, butter and cream cheese.
